The dark knight

The dark knight has an intense style of music at the start of the movie, the music indicates that thee antagonist of the movie will be introduced to the plot and as expected later on in the movie opening you see the main antagonist. From the opening I can denote that the dark knight is an action movie because you can see a lot of shooting and fighting just from watching the first few minutes of the movie, the intense music and use of so much actions sets us the idea that the movie will be intense and full of action. when the movie first starts you see the usage of high key lighting this is so the action stands out more. but then the lighting changes into low key lighting as the movie settles. the low key lighting is used to show that batman's introduction to the movie is low key it refers to the film title the dark knight, he's a hero that has evil ways about him. There was a lot of dialogue within the opening of the dark knight.

scream

the film opening starts with a scream at the beginning, this links to the title of the film. scream is a parody of horror movies in general, it contains the basic genre's such as the ditzy blonde haired girl, the scary house, the sharp knife, and the scary voice, they use the popcorn being made as an indicator that something bad is going to happen. the opening scene is set in an house this is another key common convention in a horror movie . the sound changes when the main character discovers that she is being suspiciously watched. her facial expression and body language corresponds with the opening scene, she is calm , happy and slightly flirtatious in the beginning, however she starts to becoming worried and paranoid.

Types of horror films

Slasher horrors -A slasher film is a subgenre of horror film, and at times thriller, typically involving a mysterious, generally psychopathic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims usually in a graphically violent manner, often with a cutting tool such as a knife, a machete, an axe, or a chainsaw. Although the term "slasher" may be used as a generic term for any horror movie involving graphic acts of murder, the slasher as a genre has its own set of characteristics which set it apart from related genres like the splatter film.

Psychological horrors

Psychological horror aims to create discomfort by exposing common or universal psychological and emotional vulnerabilities and fears, such as the shadowy parts of the human psyche that most people repress or deny referred to in Jungian psychology as the archetypal shadow characteristics: suspicion, distrust, self-doubt and paranoia of others, themselves and the world. Thus, elements of psychological horror focus on mental conflict. These become important as the characters face perverse situations, often involving the supernatural, immorality and conspiracies. While other horror media emphasize fantastical situations such as attacks by monsters, psychological horror tends to keep the monsters hidden and to involve situations more grounded in artistic realism.
Plot twists are an often used device. Characters commonly face internal battles with subconscious desires such as romantic lust and the desire for petty revenge. In contrast, splatter fiction focuses on bizarre, alien evil to which the average viewer cannot easily relate.

Survival horrors

Survival horror is a subgenre video games inspired by horror fiction that focuses on survival of the character and trying to scare the players. Although combat can be a part of the gameplay, the player is made to feel less powerful than in typical action games, because of limited ammunition, health, speed, or other limitations. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas, and solve puzzles at certain locations. Games make use of strong horror themes, and the player is often challenged to navigate dark maze-like environments, and react to unexpected attacks from enemies
